Econograms · For teachers
IB Economics teaching, made visual.
Use Econograms to teach IB Economics visually, help students explain their reasoning and review the work they submit to you.
Start with a diagram students can change
Open a model from the diagram library or start in the blank workspace. Move curves, edit labels and use the relevant shading to discuss consumer surplus, producer surplus and welfare loss. Ask students to predict the change before showing it.
Anyone can explore diagrams. Sign in to save, export and print your work. The explanation under each diagram connects the model to its assumptions, economic mechanism and limitations.
Teach the reasoning, not just the finished picture
Use cause and effect to build a chain one step at a time. Students can reveal links, sequence prewritten cards or write their own explanation, with hints when they need help.
The command term guides show the difference between defining, explaining, analysing and evaluating. Follow them with original IB-style questions organised by unit, command term and the available paper formats. Multiple-choice practice can help identify misconceptions before a longer response.
Assign questions and return private feedback
With a teacher account, open Classrooms, create a class and share its invitation privately. Students need a student account to join. Choose an available question to assign; students can save a private draft and submit a fixed copy of their answer, including a diagram where appropriate.
You can review submitted work and return written feedback. You cannot see students’ private drafts, and other students cannot see a classmate’s response or feedback. Classroom work is not given an automated IB grade.
Choose the right view for your lesson
Teacher accounts can switch between the student and teacher views of diagram lessons. Student accounts cannot open teacher-only content. Choosing a teacher role does not verify employment at a school; school leaderboard approval requires separate staff verification.
Use practice feedback as a starting point
Econograms practice is independently authored and uses IB Economics terminology and question formats. It is not an official IB question bank or an IB-endorsed service. Automated feedback is formative: discuss the reasoning with the student and use teacher judgement when assessing the full response.
XP recognises eligible practice participation, not grades or proof of independent work. Student leaderboard listing is optional and uses generated nicknames. See the privacy policy for classroom records, saved work and leaderboard choices.
